Newsweek released its annual ranking of the top 1,300 public high schools in the nation, and North Charleston's Academic Magnet High School ranked in at No. 12, holding it's spot from on the list from the previous year.

Academic Magnet was the only Lowcountry high school to make the list, but in total, 16 high schools statewide were recognized.
