A Summerville woman has suggested new drivers should be offered incentives to label their cars as being piloted by a green driver.

Bette Century Thomas told Rep. Joe Daning, R-Goose Creek, of the idea and said she came up with it after 15-year-old Cushire Akabidavis died moments after receiving her learners permit.

The idea stems from a practice in Japan, where new drivers are forced to place marks on their cars.

Daning said he will consider filling legislation, which could happen in January.
