Good news at the gas pump: gas prices are predicted to continue to fall as Memorial Day approaches. The even better news is that come summer's full swing, the nationwide average could be below last summer's peak of around $2.70 a gallon.

Wholesale gasoline prices have plummeted by 22 cents a gallon since last week, and the drop in prices are beginning to trickle down to consumers.

In the Charleston-North Charleston area alone, gas has gone down a penny in just one week with a gallon going for $2.76.

So get out there and hit the open road this summer, it won't break your bank.
