In an effort to preserve history from dredging and development, the South Carolina Institute of Archaeology and Anthropology at USC has received a grant to map the remains of ships, underwater defenses, torpedoes, and more in the Charleston Harbor.

The Post and Courier is your best bet to learn more about the program.

The $28,000 grant comes from the National Park Service's American Battlefield Protection Program.
