Surf fishing might see some rule changes in NMB

The City of North Myrtle Beach might be changing, or rather making rules, for those who surf fish.

Currently, in Horry and Georgetown counties surf fishers can fish when ever they would like, safely and if they had a S.C. surf fishing license. After years of no real issues, this past summer there were some complaints, one included a child getting wrapped up in a fishing line. Due to this, North Myrtle Beach council approved the first reading of an ordinance that will give lifeguards and beach patrol the authority to ask surf fishers to move or stop if they are deemed unsafe to beachgoers.
