First Nikki Haley lead Democrat Vincent Sheheen by 17% points, then it was a closer 4% point gap, and now a Winthrop Poll says the gap is 9% points and voters are beginning to stick to Sheheen.

While Haley had support of 46% of responders, Sheheen (37%) saw a greater support from his base (79.4 v 78), was pulling a greater percentage of the opposing party (9.5 v 7.3), had more support of independents (29.2 v 27.1), and fewer of Sheheen's supporters said they might change their mind (18.3 v 26.4).

13.4% of people said they are still undecided and the poll of 741 likely voters, taken between October 5 and 10 had a margin of error of plus/minus 3.6 percent.
