More losses and unemployment in S.C.

As many are already aware, South Carolina has been one of the worst states hit with unemployment, and some counties are feeling it worse than others like: Allendale, Bamberg, Barnwell and Hampton.

Read more stories on this subject in our unemployment topic page.Industries that employed many people in this region have either consolidated with other locations or left South Carolina entirely, leaving many jobless; Allendale County's unemployment rate has reached 19.7 percent, the worst in the state.

The Post and Courier divulges the hope felt by SC's unemployed:
The people here say President Barack Obama sold them hope and they're holding on to it. They pray that the stimulus money reaches them and the hard times turn around. And sooner rather than later.

Many people have been forced out of their towns with no hope of finding employment there. As Lonnie Frazier, a farmer in Bamburg, explained, people need to go where they can find jobs, and if people cannot find jobs in small-town, South Carolina, then maybe they should explore another terrain for employment.
