McMaster files friend of the court brief on James Island's behalf

The battle between the city of Charleston and the town of James Island rages on. However, James Island just added a key player to their side of the court, S.C. Attorney General Henry McMaster.

The city of Charleston continues to question the legitimacy and constitutionality of town's right to exist. In 2008, the town won a ruling to retain the right to exist, but the case keeps going back to court because lawmakers have tweaked the state's incorporation laws.

If and when the case returns to court, McMaster's office has filed a friend of the court brief on behalf of the town, and it never hurts to have the state's Attorney General on your side.
