Former Charleston County school chief fired in Seattle over $1.8M scandal

After leaving Charleston County School District in 2007 to take the top job in Seattle, superintendent Maria Goodloe-Johnson has been fired — and apparently to crowd applause at the vote.

Goodloe-Johnson had become wrapped up in a $1.8 million financial scandal about bonuses going to local businesses. And some are calling the move two years too late and asking for the board's ouster as well.

The better reporting I've seen on the matter is over at SeattlePI.com; read it here.
