Governor Mark Sanford announced yesterday that retired Air Force Brig. Gen. John Finan will serve as interim director of the newly created state Department of Employment Workforce.

Finan has served as chief financial officer for the Air Force until 1993 and as vice president for business and finance at the University of South Carolina from 1995 to 2001.
