Chronicle calls out Haley's claim about convention business (update: City/Chamber respond)

Update 4/8: The City of Myrtle Beach and Chamber got together at a Council workshop this week to discuss Haley's comments.

According WMBF News, the City intends on inviting Haley to present the statistics that the Chamber has collected on the performance of the tourism development tax. The video is here.

First Report 4/2: Just like in her previous town hall speech, Governor Haley reiterated her opposition this past Friday to the 1% sales tax tacked on by the City of Myrtle Beach for tourism promotion.

This time she named specific cases where the high sales taxes in Myrtle Beach caused us to lose convention business. Michael Smith of The Carolina Forest Chronicle decided to check her facts and contact those companies directly.
