Update August 11: The council has voted to remove the spots and likely erect some sort of barrier to prevent people from parking there.

NBC News 2 has a video report on the latest bit of news; watch it here.

First reporting August 6: At a Town Council meeting on Tuesday, Mount Pleasant's Police Chief exercised concern that people who park along the front stretch at Patriots Point Boulevard in order to walk the Ravenel Jr. Bridge are going to get seriously injured.

The prime 400 feet of free parking on the north side of the boulevard beginning where its intersects with Coleman Boulevard may soon become a thing of the past as Council's Police, Legal and Judicial Committee voted in favor off parking to the area.

The Post and Courier has the post which has already accumulated 19 posts ranging from outrage over the plan to offerings of alternative suggestions for making the area safer for walkers.

Go take a look.
