Berkeley County's sign laws allow you to put up for rent, sale, and political signs without first getting a permit -- and that rule ran into one local who had up signs of a religious nature.

And since they had no permit, Berkeley told the man to take them down and the man called in legal aid. A court case over First Amendment rights is now going through the system.

Seems like they'd be wise to structure the sign ordinance not around message, but how long the type of sign usually stays up.
