City of Myrtle Beach considering loitering laws for public parks

HEY BEAR! Get off that bench! This is the City of Myrtle Beach!

City of Myrtle Beach is discussing the creation of laws aimed at preventing "park people" from making the parks appear undesirable to tourists.

At this week's City Council meeting, a citizen spoke out about homeless people hanging out in City parks during the day. The laws discussed would allow citations to be written for anyone using the park in any way than it was originally intended. To add to the vague law, this intended use could be defined differently for any of the City of Myrtle Beach's 45 public parks.

WMBF news has great quotes from both the citizens and Mayor John Rhodes on the issue. Read it here.
