Protesters rally outside future Planned Parenthood office

Protesters gathered outside what will soon be a Planned Parenthood office in downtown Charleston on Saturday, saying they don't want the organization coming to town. It is unknown when exactly the center is expected to open. ABC News 4 reports:

"Abortion kills a living human being. There have been almost 50 million abortions in the US," said protester Annette Griebsch.

The protesters walked in the area of 200 Rutledge Avenue today because it's the site of a future Planned Parenthood office. The organization provides services like sexually transmitted infection testing, birth control services, and abortion services.

"They are not good for us and they are in direct opposition to Roman Catholic teachings," Griebsch said.

Planned Parenthood's Web site offers its own description of what the organization does:

Planned Parenthood Federation of America (PPFA) is many things to many people. We are a trusted health care provider, an informed educator, a passionate advocate, and a global partner helping similar organizations around the world. Planned Parenthood delivers vital health care services, sex education, and sexual health information to millions of women, men, and young people.

The protesters plan to gather outside the Planned Parenthood office every Saturday morning at 9:30, according to ABC News 4.
