Report says North Charleston's rail plan would generate $70M annually

Tomorrow's going to be a big day in the ongoing debate about where rail lines should go to service a new port in North Charleston, and the city and CSX have just won a big card to lay on the table during a meeting wit the Review and Oversight Commission: An economic impact report says their plan would generate hundreds of jobs, while a competitor's plan would reduce jobs.

The Charleston Regional Business Journal has a nice rundown of the report and upcoming meeting; read it here.

But Norfolk Southern isn't walking in without its own new card: a letter from mega-shipper Maersk saying a deal must offer both lines equal access.
