Update November 10:

We're some 12 hours out from the podcast's recording, so I thought I'd offer the latest text from the National Weather Service about what to expect today and tonight:

Heavy rainfall...widespread rainfall will develop over the area by this afternoon and will persist through tonight. There is the potential for heavy rainfall to develop beginning this afternoon...with rainfall amounts of 1 to 3 inches expected through tonight...with locally higher amounts possible. While significant flooding is not expected at this time given recent dry conditions...flooding of urban...low lying and poor drainage areas may occur.

First reporting:

Sure Ida's hitting the Gulf Coast but the other late hurricane season weather may well push it over to Charleston's area, getting us all wet.

How likely is it? Where did tonight's showers come from?

Well get the scoop in this QuickCast with local coder and weather geek extraordinaire Jared Smith.

Download the podcast, or listen to it with the player just below.

After listening, stay up to date with the latest by following Smith's @ChsWX or CharlestonWX's blog -- and because we're suckers for self promotion, there's also our hurricane page.

Stay dry out there.
