Earl's waves give Folly Beach's sand a beating (update: video)

Image by Flickr user thesussman Normal waves at Folly in January shown, but you get the idea.

Update September 4: Live 5 News took a visit out to folly and reports back with a nice video about the up-to 15 feet of beach the, well, beach town lost and chats with a geologist about why it is that Folly has such a hard time with erosion.

Take a watch over here.

First reporting September 3: As expected, it sounds like Hurricane Earl did lots of damage to the beach at Folly.

The Post and Courier has a write-up and some shots from yesterday afternoon.

Live 5 News also has 10 minutes of raw video footage of the waves.

Oh, and there's a bit about two men crashing their sailboat into the Folly pier, a video on that over here.
