There's a story on the wire saying Charleston has beat its rain record. While it's true, it's only half true.

Read more stories on this subject in our weather topic page. This December's rain has smashed Charleston's old record for downtown Charleston (5.53 inches in 1976) but it has yet to surpass the more impressive record set at the Charleston airport in 1941: 11.08 inches.

So, yes, a very wet month but not the wettest for all of Charleston ... yet.

Presently we're at 9.85 inches and our last shot to hit 11 inches comes on Wednesday and Thursday -- yes, new year's eve.
