Spare some hair to help clean the Gulf oil spill

If you're thinking about getting your ears lowered or giving your dog a summer buzz, consider donating the abandoned clippings to help clean up the Gulf oil spill.

Both dog and human hair can be stuffed into booms to catch oil drifting through the water. And get this: a pound of hair can absorb one quart of oil in one minute. And hair mats can be wrung out and reused up to 100 times.

A number of local pet groomers are already signed up and ready to ship off your dog's hair and are even offering discounts as extra incentive.
