North Charleston student makes it to National Spelling Bee

North Charleston 13-year-old Jackson Crist made it to the semifinals of the Scripps National Spelling Bee this week, but he misspelled "segno" Friday to fall out of contention for tonight's finals. The Post and Courier reports:

Crist misspelled segno by adding an ā€œiā€ after the ā€œeā€ in the sixth round of the nationally televised competition, ending his shot at the national title. Only 15 students will compete in the finals tonight on ABC at 8 p.m.

According to ABC News 4, Jackson lives in North Charleston and is a member of the Lowcountry Christian Home Educators Association. You can also check out their video coverage.

Media General's Bee Blog also has the video of Jackson's shot at "segno."
