The Home Depot Foundation has dubbed North Charleston as one of the two cities in the nation worthy enough for the Award of Excellence for Sustainable Community Development.

Working along side their nonprofit partner, The Sustainability Institute, North Charleston earned this award for its plans to reduce blight, reduce pollution and
increase environmental awareness. As part of their recognition, North Charleston and the Sustainability Institute are getting a little green for green, and will share an award of $75,000.

Minneapolis is the other city to earn this award.
