N. Myrtle Beach is a finalist for green award (Update: Chamber achieved Green Plus Certification)

First Report 6/2: The city of North Myrtle Beach along with the NMB Chamber of Commerce has been announced as finalists for this years Green Plus North America Sustainable Enterprise Awards.

This past fall North Myrtle Beach unveiled South Carolina's first wind turbine. Located in North Carolina's Research Triangle Park, the Green Plus Institute's mission is: to educate, motivate, and recognize smaller enterprises for their efforts toward greater sustainability regardless of their means, and to extend practical knowledge and expertise in sustainability by developing new leaders in the field. 

Regarding North Myrtle Beach's nomination Chris Carmody, Executive Director of the Institute for Sustainable Development said:

"North Myrtle Beach's leadership in off-shore wind power provides a tremendous example of how renewable energy can create both jobs and healthy environments for our communities..."
