Gulf oil spill would span entire S.C. coast

More than a month ago I commented on how the Oil Spill in the Gulf would reach from Savannah to Charleston -- well as you know that spill has been growing. Today the spill's size would span the entire South Carolina coastline.

It's a point made all the more real by the site "In Perspective: Visualizing the BP Oil Disaster" that takes periodic mappings of the oil spill and allows you to mash it up on you hometown.

If you're still tracking the status of the spill, The New York TImes has an excellent map showing oil landfall and a map of the spill and ocean currents. Efforts to stop the leak are still ongoing.

The leak has now been going for 43 days.

A hat tip to Christopher Donahue for spotting the map resource.
