Chemical drums found in Upstate river after heavy rains

Folks were pretty alarmed when they discovered two chemical drums in Chauga River near the Georgia-South Carolina border.

The Anderson Independent-Mail is you best bet to learn more.

The barrels contained sodium hydrosulfite. If dumped into your pool you'd be pretty bad off as contact with water creates hydrogen sulfide, a highly toxic gas. But the chemical also has food applications.

Officials are saying that even if they hadn't found the barrels there would have been little adverse effect in the grand scheme of things.
