New Electric Vehicle Charging Station in North Myrtle Beach

Visiting the beach yesterday, I tried to park in the beach access parking spots closest to my home but no luck was to be had as the 6th Avenue South beach access parking lot was full.

Two full size car spots were taken by golf carts (which is always a treat), but I noticed one spot open and thought it was my lucky day. It turns out however, that the open space was reserved for Electric Vehicles; which despite my parking woes, is pretty awesome.

I snapped a few photos (above) and went on my way to find parking elsewhere. This morning I stopped by the City of North Myrtle Beach and got a little bit of information ab out the new EV station on 6th Ave. The charging station is 100% free to those who have an electric vehicles and it is part of the Plugin Carolina initiative; which is a joint venture from Duke Energy, SCE&G, Santee Cooper, and Lockhart Power and is spear-headed by Jim Poch.

There are now six charging stations in the area. Five of the stations are provided by PluginCarolina and one is a privately set up station at Ocean Lakes Campground. There are electric charging stations all over the state: Charleston, Union, Rock Hill, Spartanburg and Greenville.
