Thief steals safe from Habitat for Humanity store (update: support boon follows)

Update January 22: The misfortune has lead to an outpouring of community support, with thousands of dollars donated.

First reporting January 17: Early Sunday morning, a burglar broke into The Habitat ReStore in Summerville and stole the business's safe.

The Habitat ReStore resells items to raise money for Dorchester's Habitat for Humanity which works to build houses for low-income families. The Post and Courier has more on the break-in, read it here.

In an effort to raise back some of the money, Habitat for Humanity is throwin an oyster roast and chili cook-off this Saturday, January 22nd at the Dorchester Boat Club. For more information, including ticket sales, click here.
