North Charleston triple shooting deemed apparent murder-suicide (Updated)

Update January 9: Live 5 News has followed up with how the family of the 21-year-old shooting victim has been coping in the days since.

As you might guess, not too well — check out the station's video report over here.

First reporting: On Friday night near 6 p.m. North Charleston police officers were called to a disturbance at home off Rivers Avenue (map below) and stumbled onto what is being called an apparent murder-suicide.

Police say that 24-year-old Kevin Drayton came to the home in search of 21-year-old Desma Doctor and when a verbal confrontation escalated, Doctor's mother stood between the two and wound up being shot while Desma Doctor was fatally wounded and Drayton then shot himself.

Many reports abound, but The Post and Courier has a more flushed out one (read that here) and NBC News 2 has a video report from the neighborhood with details from earlier in the night (see that here).

As always, we'll keep you updated.
