Charleston Animal Society seizes eight neglected animals from North Charleston home

The Charleston Animal Society seized two dogs, a kitten and four exotic birds in various states of neglect from a home in North Charleston on Wednesday.

The tip came after a neighbor reported smells coming from the home - which very well may be attributed to a dead ferret and eight animals living in complete filth inside of the home. One African grey parrot found at the site had to be euthanized.

The owner has been charged with various accounts of animal cruelty.
