A case to control 'military-style' rifles

The Post and Courier's Glenn Smith writes about the need for South Carolina to enact laws that provide specific penalties for convicted criminals found with "military-style" guns.

The paper quotes Charleston Mayor Joe Riley:
It's a giant loophole, a criminal who cannot possess a handgun could legally possess an AK-47, which I think is a scary thought for most citizens.

Smith goes on to cite several particularly tragic incidents involving semi-automatic rifles.

All-in-all, it's hard to deny such a compelling argument.
