A tourist was shot during a drunken altercation early Saturday morning on North Market Street near the Planters Inn.
Charleston police responded to the shooting around 2:45 a.m., when the tourist, Joseph Williams of Tennessee, walked into the street and approached a vehicle and began knocking on the window and yelling profanities at the driver and passenger. The driver then proceeded to pull out a gun and shoot Williams in the shoulder.
The suspects were arrested a short time later and were being held in the Charleston County Detention Center.
