A boating accident that occured very early Sunday morning is being blamed on drinking, and the boat operator had been charged with driving under the influence.

The boat operator, Tracy L. Smith, collided with a channel marker in Charleston Harbor, leading to two boaters suffering injuries including a head wound and a broken arm.

After interviews were conducted, Smith was arrested for boating under the influence of alcohol.

Let this be a reminder to all of you: Boating and drinking don't go hand-in-hand. If you're planning on boating, ensure that you have a designated sober boat operator.
