A 16-year-old girl remains in state custody after being charged in connection with the remains of a fetus found buried off S.C. 544.

The girl's mother called Horry County Police on Monday morning after finding photographs of a deceased fetus on her daughter's cell phone. The mother soon realized the location of the photographs was her families old residence, and went to retrieve the body before police arrived at the home.
