Statewide jobless rate falls, Charleston sees slight rise

South Carolina's jobless rate has dropped once again as figures in the month of May dropped to 11 percent, .5 better than in April.

This marks the fifth consecutive month that the figures have dropped - a good sign of economic recovery. However, despite the state-wide drop in unemployment, the Charleston area's unemployment rate increased to 8.8 percent compared to 8.4 percent in April.

The Post and Courier has a brief post on the subject and is promising further coverage tomorrow. We'll keep you updated.
