South Carolina unemployment edges down to 11.5%

After I was none-to-impressed with last months drop, South Carolina seems to have charted its first significant drop in unemployment -- even if it is just down 0.2% points to 11.5%.

Read more stories on this subject in our unemployment topic page.Still, despite the state's labor force's shrinking by some 10,000 people, unemployment only fell by 6,083.

Unemployment in Charleston County held steady at 9.1%, Dorchester rose 0.1 to 10.2%, and Berkeley fell 0.3 to 10.6%. The average for the metro area was 9.7%.
