Navy's high-tech presence in Charleston cemented

While the legacy of the Charleston Naval Base winds down, Charleston's new Navy star is growing.

Charleston's Space and Naval Warfare Systems Center (SPAWAR) aims to make sure our military is keeping up in the world of technology, and putting it to effective use. It's clearly an organization of increasing importance to our military, and Charleston's role is being cemented as it's becoming the seat of a new Atlantic division for offices in Norfolk, New Orleans, Washington, D.C., Tidewater, Virginia, Pensacola, Tampa, and satellite offices in Europe, the Middle East and Antarctica.

Good news for a facility that is believed to have $2.3 billion impact on our local economy.
