Several large-scale business parks will soon start booming in Jedburgy. Plans call to build some 17 million square-feet of warehouse and manufacturing space in the small community off Interstate 26.

Officials hope this will be a strategically placed distribution center that has relatively easy access to Interstate 95. If successful it could help the Port of Charleston compete against Savannah's good distribution setup which is making their port more attractive.

The Charleston Regional Business Journal reports, in part:
Massive plans for new large-scale distribution and manufacturing facilities total about 17 million square feet. Four powerhouse commercial real estate companies — and a few smaller players as well — are planning to build these facilities on parcels of land located just off Exit 194 on Interstate 26 in Berkeley County.

“It is pure geography,” said Curt Grantham, president and CEO of Trammell Crow Carolinas Development Inc. and senior managing director of Trammell Crow Co., based in Dallas. “You have very few large sites that can accommodate industrial uses, have good access to the interstate systems and are priced competitively enough to support distribution uses.”

Back in June, news came that Starbucks would be integral in a new 250,000 square-foot warehouse in Jedburg.
