Update: The first North Charleston assembled 787 is due to be picked up this morning, and flown away on Saturday.

First reporting: While the first 787 Dreamliner to be delivered from Charleston happened earlier this month, the first North Charleston assembled 787 is now ready for delivery.

The company announced at the S.C. International Trade Conference at the Isle of Palms on Wednesday that the plane had received final Air India branding as was awaiting a time from the Indian company on when it would pickup the plane.

Boeing executive Jack Jones also brushed aside ongoing concerns about the General Electric GEnx engines often used in the 787.
