American LaFrance is shifting its firetruck manufacturing from its Summerville plant and consolidating it New York and Pennsylvania.

The company employs some 500 people locally, who will stay on to continue making trash trucks and other heavy-duty trucks. The company has been financially troubled for some time, but recently emerged from bankruptcy.
