College of Charleston, Citadel look to push up tuition by 3% (Update: C of C approves, too)

Image by Flickr user Teddy Under the plan, College of Charleston in-state tuition would rise $302 next year.

(Updates at the bottom.) Last week The Citadel proposed a 3% tuition hike for in state students (6% out of state) and now the College of Charleston is looking to raise in-state tuition by 3.15% (4% out of state).

Both plans still need final approval.

In 2010 South Carolina capped annual rises in tuition to 7% — or else schools face state funding penalties.

On Monday, June 11, the College of Charleston Board of Trustees will meet and is expected to discuss approving that school's proposed 3.15% tuition increase.
