It's been years since a major new hotel has been constructed in downtown Charleston — and now one will open in November.

Although the hotel taking shape on Concord Park was underway first, the 120-room "Holiday Inn Charleston Historic Downtown" at 425 Meeting Street announced in September 2011 appears set to beat it.

Here's some details about the new hotel from a release:

They will include plush-top mattresses, down comforters, jumbo pillows and 40-inch LED screen televisions with plug and play capabilities. In addition, three corner suites include floor to ceiling glass windows that provide stunning views of Charleston's Cooper River Bridge.

Located only blocks from the visitor's center, the hotel is just steps from shopping, dining, galleries, museums, nightlife and antique shops in Downtown Charleston. The hotel offers close proximity to Charleston's famed historic sites such as the Downtown Market, Homes, Gardens, Plantations, Fort Sumter and much more.

The Holiday Inn Historic Downtown's 120 rooms are spread throughout the five-story new construction building. With over 2,000 square feet of meeting and banquet space accommodating up to 140 people, the hotel offers its guests complimentary wireless Internet, teleconferencing capabilities and built-in presentation features. The hotel also features a second floor heated outdoor pool with a waterfall feature, a well equipped fitness center, same day dry cleaning, on-site guest laundry facilities, on-site full service restaurant and bar with room service, library and a full-service business center with printing capabilities.

The hotel is owned and managed by Tara Investments out of Charlotte, North Carolina.
