American Eagle Airlines (regional affiliate of American Airlines) is now flying direct between Miami and Charleston.

The flight leaves once a day from Charleston at 12:05 p.m. and arrives at 1:50, the return flight arrives at 4 p.m. Come April 6 a second morning flight is planned to leave at 7.

You can get all the gory details in the press release. The Charleston Regional Business Journal has more details.

If memory serves, Delta was the last local carrier to fly direct to Miami, but they have since stopped making American the only airline to fly direct from Charleston to Florida.

Oh, and yes, we're a bit behind on this one as it was announced Thursday.
