Update July 31: Who knew the opening of a grocery store would pull more coverage than many an election or crime incident?

But that's the way it is on Friday — and if you weren't able to make it out for opening day of the 14,700-square-foot store, fear not dear reader, for links to the best lie just after this period.

ABC News 4 was on scene and has a solid video of the lei cutting (yes, lei) and the general excitement of the dozens of customers that lined up near dawn (watch it up top or over here) if you'd preffer a written report, then I'll point you to The Post and Courier's (read that here.)

Update July 8: Let the official countdown begin: Trader Joe's is set to open its new Mount Pleasant store at 8 a.m. July 29th.

The Mount Pleasant store will be open from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. seven days a week.

For more on what to expect from South Carolina's second-ever Trader Joe's, jump over to the update in today's Post and Courier.

First reporting: All the hoping and wanting appears like it will finally be satiated: Thrifty foodie-friendly grocery store chain Trader Joe's is coming to the Charleston area.

Where? A stone's throw from the Whole Foods in Mount Pleasant at 401 Johnnie Dodds Boulevard (map below).

The Post and Courier appears to have the scoop on this one; read their report here

Also to note is that word of this one appears to be getting out early due to a signed lease getting aired, so the opening date could change a whole lot. Right now the paper's report is pegging an open date around July.
