Louie’s Kids Announces Video Series to Educate Against Obesity
New Informational Videos Address Families and Provide Insight into Eating Healthy on a Budget
Charleston, S.C. (April 18, 2013) – Louie’s Kids, a national nonprofit based in Charleston, SC whose mission is to raise funds to help treat childhood obesity, recently announced the development of a new online informational video. The video informs shoppers how low cost shopping and eating healthy can be done on a budget. The video will be the first a new online series that speaks to the organizations mission.
“These online videos are an excellent vehicle for us to share our message with the already digital savvy public,” said Louis Yuhasz, founder and CEO of Louie’s Kids. “We want to show families how it is possible to shop and eat healthily while not breaking the bank, and our videos will do just that.”
One in three children in the United States, roughly 25 million, is considered overweight or obese. Of those children, statistics show that 89% will become obese adults. As the nations oldest nonprofit financially assisting children struggling with being overweight and obese, Louie’s Kids aims to address families in a new way- with educational online content. The videos will benefit families budgeting, or on supplemental food assistance, who are in search of helpful tips on buying and eating healthy for less.
“I thought I was current with healthy eating trends until working with Louie’s Kids,” said Gwen Luzier, a participant of Louie’s Kids Grocery Store Tours. “Their approach to navigating through a grocery store to accomplish both a healthy and budget friendly meal was insightful and practical. Louie’s Kids is making sure families educate themselves, read the labels, and to use less.
