Ever wish you could leave the hospital with the baby in one arm and an instruction manual in the other?  Now there's a program where nurse practitioners provide tutoring on achieving a healthy pregnancy and infant care for first-time low-income Grand Strand families.

The goals of the program are to:

1. Improve pregnancy outcomes by helping women engage in good preventive health practices, including thorough prenatal care from their healthcare providers, improving their diets, and reducing their use of cigarettes, alcohol and illegal substances;

2. Improve child health and development by helping parents provide responsible and competent care; and

3. Improve the economic self-sufficiency of the family by helping parents develop a vision for their own future, plan future pregnancies, continue their education and find work.

Even in the most perfect of situations, getting through pregnancy and caring for a baby is difficult. This program has the power to support families and change lives for the better.

Women can be referred to the program or personally ask to be enrolled.  If you know of someone who may benefit from the services or if you'd like to be included, call (843) 915-8899 or 1-888-422-3646.
