College of Charleston students go dumpster diving to save the earth

Recently a dozen or so members of a College of Charleston went digging through dumpsters and their week-old trash in hopes of finding recyclables to save the earth -- and scrape together a few pennies.
The point was to show how perfectly useful and valuable things come to an untimely end.
The Post and Courier was there and has a nice write-up and photo gallery.
Oh, and the group in question? Alliance for Planet Earth.
