Free Class Equips Family Caregivers with Self-Care Tools

The ARK, Alzheimer’s Family Support Services, is offering a free series of classes specifically designed for caregivers. The “Powerful Tools for Caregivers” is an educational program designed to help family caregivers take care of themselves while caring for a relative or friend who has a chronic illness.

The next class is 6-8:30 p.m. each Tuesday from June 28 to Aug. 2 at The ARK of SC in Summerville, 206 Central Ave. (second floor of the Educational Building). The class is taught by certified class leaders. The class is free (donations accepted), but registration is required. Class size is limited; call 843-670-3317 or visitwww.thearkofsc.org to register.

This program helps family caregivers reduce stress, improve self-confidence, communicate feelings better, balance their lives, increase their ability to make tough decisions, and locate helpful resources. Attendees will benefit from this class whether they are helping a parent, spouse, or friend who lives at home, in a nursing home, or across the country.
