Growfood Carolina announces partnership with BB&T Charleston Wine & Food festival

Growfood Carolina, Charleston’s first local food hub providing essential aggregation, marketing, distribution and logistical support to local growers, today announced that is has been selected as the BB&T Charleston Wine + Food Festival’s 2013 Culinary Community Partner.

“We are thrilled to partner with an organization that does so much good for area farmers and makes it easier for restaurants and retailers to serve and sell local products,” said Festival Executive Director Angel Postell.

GrowFood Carolina is a local food hub that aggregates fresh, high-quality produce grown by farmers within a 120-mile radius of Charleston and delivers it to restaurants and retailers in the Charleston area. Established in October 2011, GrowFood Carolina operates from a LEED-certified warehouse on Morrison Drive and works with more than 30 farmers to get their produce into the hands of Charleston businesses from grocery stores such as Whole Foods, Piggly Wiggly and Earth Fare to restaurants including FIG, Husk, Evo, Hominy Grill, The Grocery, Carter’s Kitchen, SNOB and many more.

“We are honored and thrilled to have been chosen as the Community Culinary Partner for the BB&T Charleston Wine & Food Festival®,” said Sara Clow, GrowFood Carolina General Manager. “This is a tremendous opportunity and platform for GrowFood Carolina to reach out to the wider culinary community and demonstrate the huge benefits of a non-profit local food hub.”

As the 2013 Culinary Community Partner, GrowFood Carolina will be promoted in all Festival marketing and collateral materials, similar to how the Festival has treated its Signature Charities in the past.
