First reporting: Southern Living magazine has listed Charleston among the top 10 contenders in their user-driven contest to find out which town will be crowned "The South's Tastiest Town."

Cast your vote daily from December 22nd through January 31st and you can help land Charleston in the top spot. The winner will be announced in the April issue of Southern Living magazine.

For those of us living in the Holy City, the reasons why Charleston should win are countless. Just ask your belt buckles. However, in case you needed a reminder, here's the description that the magazine gives about our fine dining town:

There is no shame in planning a vacation around shrimp and grits—an increasing number of culinary tourists who flock to this red-hot restaurant town do just that. Charleston needs no introduction, but we'll give a Lowcountry shout-out to smart, passionate chefs like Sean Brock at Husk (a forthcoming cookbook and ongoing dedication to heirloom American ingredients ensure he'll continue to influence food trends), Robert Stehling at Hominy Grill, and Mike Lata at FIG. A vibrant cocktail culture (including The Gin Joint, The Belmont Lounge, Bar at Husk, etc.), and don't-miss desserts (pass the Peninsula Grill's Coconut Cake).

There's plenty to do, see, and eat, so pause for one of their great local brews or grab a growler at The Charleston Beer Exchange to keep up your strength.
