Shop local for her: Socialite in Murrells Inlet

Sisters, Rachel Bourne and Mary Margaret Williams, opened Socialite, a women's boutique in Murrells Inlet, rich with details and a variety of styles, five years ago.

The sisters both love fashion and on a trip to New York City, found themselves in boutique after boutique, in love with the intimate feel and interesting choices. They both quickly agreed that the Grand Strand needed a shop with a similar feel. Just a few months later, Socialite opened its doors.

The store is proud to feature clothing and accessories from a variety of designers, including French Connection and BCBG. They also focus on offering looks that take women from casual to cocktail in sizes extra-small to large in a wide price range to fit everyone's budget.

When I asked them what they liked most about the business, they talked about the high level of customer service they're able to provide. They really enjoy the one-on-one relationships they've been able to build and the attention to detail they give.

They offer wish lists where customers can note the items they'd love to receive as gifts. That list can be emailed to the intended recipient, as well as remain up at the register for reference. Rachel and Mary Margaret also maintain a courtesy registry where they keep tabs on which styles other customers are wearing to social events as to avoid that awkward moment when you walk into a party and see two other women wearing the same dress.
